Primary School Staff in Clare Invited to Join the Staffroom Steppers Challenge
Clare Sports Partnership, Clare Education Centre and Healthy Clare are thrilled to launch the Staffroom Steppers Challenge, a new initiative promoting physical activity and wellbeing among primary school staff across County Clare.
The Challenge:
Running from January 19th to February 13th, 2026, this free challenge invites all primary school staff — teachers, SNAs, secretaries, caretakers, and more — to walk as many kilometres as possible over four weeks. Whether it’s a lunchtime stroll or a weekend hike, every step counts!
How it works:

Participants will track their progress using the Strava app, which Clare Sports Partnership will use to monitor each school’s total distance. The school with the highest combined kilometres in each category will be crowned Staffroom Steppers Champions and awarded a €100 sports equipment voucher.
Competition Categories:
- Small school = 100 pupils or less
- Medium school = 101 – 499 pupils
- Large school = 500+ pupils
This challenge is completely free but each staff member who is taking part must register in order to take part in the challenge. The registration form can be found below. Deadline for registering for this challenge is Friday January 9th 2026.
