Coaching Skills for School Leaders - QQI Level 6 Special Purpose Award in Life and Workplace Coaching (Specialising in Educational Leadership Coaching)  

The Clare Education Centre in association with CoachAcademy PLUS is delighted to offer this Coaching Skills for School Leaders - QQI Level 6 Special Purpose Award in Life and Workplace Coaching (Specialising in Educational Leadership Coaching).

USING THE DIGITAL LEARNING FRAMEWORK (DLF) TO EMBED DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES IN TEACHING, LEARNING AND ASSESSMENT FOR POST PRIMARY OCTOBER 9TH

Using the Digital Learning Framework (DLF) to embed Digital Technologies in Teaching, Learning and Assessment.
The Professional Development Service for Teachers (PDST) is commencing its professional development programme for the Digital Learning Framework and supporting Guidelines for all primary and post primary schools.  The Digital Learning Framework (DLF) was launched in the 2017/2018 school year as part of a trial with 50 schools and evaluated by the Education Research Centre (ERC).As part of the next phase, PDST is offering full-day seminars for the school principal and one other member of staff. These will be delivered in local education centres throughout the country. 

Please note: This seminar day is for principals and one other nominated teacher per school (sub covered) who have not attended this seminar previously.

Lexia Reading Skills Software Pilot Offer to Co. Clare Schools

Lexia Reading Skills Software Pilot Offer to Co. Clare Schools - Register Your Interest by Monday 7th October
Following on from a similar project which recently ran with Co. Kerry schools, LexiaUK are partnering with Clare Education Centre to offer a free pilot of the Lexia reading skills program in your area.   Lexia software offers a highly personalised, reading skills solution for pupils of all abilities (age 4-adult).  Click here for product information.
The pilot includes full use of the software for 30 days and an enhanced level of training and support at no cost.  At the end of the pilot, each school will provide feedback through the completion of a short questionnaire.  If however, schools see the value of the program, they can purchase at a special rate which has been negotiated between Clare Education Centre and LexiaUK.  There is no obligation to purchase, however schools wishing to take part must adhere to the points set out below.
Training will take place on Thursday 14th Nov at Clare Education Centre (duration 3 hours).  You have an option of attending a morning or afternoon session.

A PARENTING PROGRAMME TO EMPOWER PARENTS

Parents ONLY Workshop “FROM CHAOS TO CALM” - Saturday, 30th of November and Saturday, 7th of December (10am to 2pm)  COST:€50

We need to cultivate it within ourselves in order to advance and thrive. Resilient leaders help protect the energy of the people in their teams. IDENTIFYING THE DERIVATIVE - LEAVING CERTIFICATE HIGHER LEVEL - Saturday 19 October 2019 - 9.30am to 4.30pm - Coffee break 11am to 11.15am, Lunch provided 1pm to 2pm COST: €15
A one day course covering aspects of Strand 5, the Functions section of the Leaving Certificate Higher Level Mathematics Syllabus.  The day will focus on The meaning of the derivative of a function and its application to properties of the given function.  For more information and to register click here.  


THE ENNEAGRAM, EMOTIONAL HEALTH AND RELATIONSHIPS - Thursday nights - 14th, 21st, 28th of November and 5th, 12th and 19th December 2019 (7pm to 9pm)  COST: €20
It is essential to have a good grounding in The Enneagram in order to do this course.  In essence, this course explores the elements that each personality type brings to relationships, how such elements mix, match or can be bones of contention and conflict. REGISTER HERE

DEVELOPING THE SKILLS REQUIRED FOR CLASSROOM BASED ASSESSMENTS IN SCIENCE -  Thursday, 26th September 2019 (5pm to 6.30pm) COST: €10
This workshop aims to develop the skills required by students to successfully and independently complete Classroom Based Assessments in Science.  The workshop will comprise of hands on activities that will help students acquire the skills needed: to develop a research question (ensuring student choice is to the fore); to develop the planning skills required to successfully approach all aspects of the Classroom Based Assessments; to develop the skills required to evaluate sources for relevance and bias; to reflect and make adjustments to their plans and work and to analyse their final product (self-assessment).

QUESTION PERSUADE AND REFER (QPR) SUICIDE PREVENTION TRAINING FOR SCHOOL PERSONNEL - Thursday, 17th October 2019 (6pm to 8pm)  COST: €15
QPR training is an internationally recognised research based, peer reviewed, heavily evaluated suicide prevention programme. This programme is now delivered worldwide by registered trainers with the QPR Institute in Spokane, Washington. Teachers and school personnel are ideally placed to identify students who may be going through a tough time. TEACHING THE TIN-WHISTLE IN THE CLASSROOM - 12th, 19th November 2019 (4pm to 6pm)  COST: €10
Playing and listening to music can have huge benefits for children.  However, for many teachers, teaching the tin-whistle in the classroom can be daunting.  This course will:- take teachers from a complete beginner level to teaching simple tunes (airs, marches and polkas) in the classroom.  Explore listening and responding through the medium of traditional Irish music.  REGISTER HERE.
