Running Records – An assessment tool for teachers
Running Records is an excellent assessment tool developed by Marie Clay, used to determine text difficulty and observe pupil reading behaviours. This assessment technique is useful to teachers of all class grades and those working in SEN who would like to improve their assessment of reading. This will be an interactive webinar and participants will be required to print out some pre-webinar documents in order to participate fully in the session. The webinar will provide a good introduction to Running Records and focus directly on:
Karen Riordan
Karen has been teaching for the last 16 years in a co-educational school, having both classroom and SEN experience. She has a special interest in working with children with additional needs having spent nine years as a Special Education Teacher. She has a particular passion for differentiated instruction having completed her thesis on ‘One size doesn’t fit all!’ Early Literacy Acquisition is an area of special interest to her having spent eight years as a Reading Recovery Teacher. Karen has thoroughly enjoyed facilitating Teacher Professional Development workshops on various Literacy Initiatives, namely Literacy Lift Off and Guided Reading for the past ten years with Clare Education Centre and looks forward to meeting new teachers virtually through her newly developed webinars.
