Webinar - Using Storysacks to support language development in the classroom
Date: Wednesday, 3 March 2021Storysacks are an engaging and multisensory way of promoting children’s literature while also fostering language development in the classroom. A Storysack can be used effectively across different subject areas and with different class levels. This webinar, presented by Sara Fitzgerald of Mary Immaculate college, will look at what a Storysack is, how a Storysack can be created and will also focus on practical ways in which Storysacks can be used in the primary school classroom to promote language development and reading.
Bio of Presenter: Sara Fitzgerald
Sara is a full-time lecturer in Education and member of the English Language and Literacy team in Mary Immaculate college for the last three years. She graduated from Mary Immaculate college with a Bachelor of Education degree and following graduation worked as a primary school teacher teaching various class levels. She has also worked with the Tarbert Education Centre and the Professional Development Service for Teachers (PDST) delivering continuing professional development courses for many years. Sara is currently undertaking a PhD which is exploring teachers’ instructional writing practices in a 1st and 2nd class setting.
