The benefits of incorporating playfulness into health and education interventions are vast. They include the development of creative problem-solving skills, increased motivation, the ability to cope with stressful situations, social competence, increased empathy and sharing, and a reduction in stress, anxiety, fear, and depression (Tanta & Knox, 2015). This webinar will examine the rationale for enhancing well-being for children through play. It will explore ways to combine playfulness and learning to enhance engagement, regulation and motivation for all children. It will present case studies describing how to incorporate a play-centred approach to support the educational goals of children with additional needs.
• Participants will be able to describe what playfulness looks like
• Recognise the importance of linking playfulness to learning in order to support engagement, regulation and motivation
• Participants will have access various playfulness tools that they can incorporate into learning activities.
