Dyslexia Across The Curriculum - Juniors To 2nd Class (P)
DATE: Wednesday, 2nd April 2025
TIME: 7pm - 8pm
VENUE: Online Via Zoom
Almost every subject requires some level of reading and writing, so it is not surprising that dyslexia can affect learning across the curriculum. Challenges in areas such as accessing written text, reading fluency, spelling, written expression, organization, following written instructions, sequencing, utilizing working memory (essential for problem-solving), and visual processing (which is particularly important for worksheets, textbooks, and exams) can influence learning in various subjects in distinct ways.
In this webinar we will explore the unique needs of students with dyslexia and how educators can effectively support them across various subjects.
This session will provide practical strategies, tools, and resources designed to create an inclusive learning environment that empowers all students to thrive.
Learning Outcomes:
1. Understanding Dyslexia and Its Impact: Attendees will gain a comprehensive understanding of dyslexia, including its neurobiological basis, common challenges faced by students with dyslexia, and how these challenges can affect learning across various subjects.
2. Implementing Effective Teaching Strategies: Attendees will learn evidence-based instructional strategies that promote literacy and engagement for students with dyslexia, enabling educators to enhance participation across the curriculum.
3. Fostering an Inclusive Classroom Environment: Attendees will explore strategies for creating a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages collaboration and understanding among all students, while also addressing the social and emotional needs of students with dyslexia.
