Using Coastal Fieldwork to Complete CBA2 in JC Geography (PP)

Junior Cycle CBA2: My Geography asks students to undertake a structured inquiry and prepare a response on a geographical aspect in their local area. As part of this structured inquiry students are encouraged to undertake fieldwork as part of their data gathering.
This webinar will provide teachers with a full set of resources to complete a coastal fieldwork that meets the requirements necessary for CBA2. All attendees will receive a breakdown of fieldwork in relation to the CBA, A day-by-day plan of how to complete the fieldwork over the course of 3 weeks, and appropriate methodologies to be used with Junior Cycle Geography students. Additionally, Lee will walkthrough a student-centered booklet aimed to help student’s research relevant information before carrying out fieldwork, gather data in the field, present the data in their response and reflect on the process throughout. Lee will outline how the coastal fieldwork could be interpreted through different erosional, transportation and depositional process.

Lee O’Donnell is a teacher of Geography & History at Woodbrook College in Wicklow. Geography/History Methodology Lecturer at University College Dublin. LC History content creator for Exam Revision. Host of the Leaving Certificate revision podcast ‘Skin in the Game’.
