Webinar Series: An Introduction to the Role of the Post Primary Special Education Teacher for NQTs

TARGET AUDIENCE: Post Primary NQTs with Special Education Teaching hours. (These webinars will be interactive where participants can turn on their cameras & mics.)
This series of webinars is designed to support NQTs teaching SET hours. Dee Keane, an experienced SET, will guide teachers through their new role- whether they are assigned one hour or 22 hours of special education teaching.
Webinar 1: Tuesday, 26th September @ 7pm
An introduction to the Continuum of Support, models of support and the role of a SET at Post Primary level. This webinar will include an introduction to paperwork that needs to be completed by a SET.
Webinar 2: Tuesday, 10th October @ 7pm
This webinar will include an approach to student support & intervention planning. We will look at identifying and prioritising learning needs, creating SMART targets and determining the most effective strategies to meet these targets.
Webinar 3: Wednesday, 22nd November @ 7pm
This webinar will look at planning literacy intervention at a support for some and a support for a few. Formal and informal literacy assessments will be covered as evidence-based strategies.
Webinar 4: Wednesday, 29th November @ 7pm
This final webinar of the series will look at planning executive functioning intervention and support including approaches to support self-regulation in the school environment.
Bio of Presenter: Dee Keane
Dee Keane is a Home Economics, Religious Education and Special Education Post Primary Teacher. Dee has been teaching since 2010 and completed a Masters in Professional Studies in SEN in 2016. Dee is also a qualified TEFL teacher and Adult Literacy Tutor who has completed training with Dyslexia Ireland and Dyslexia Matters Ireland. She has also trained in a wide range of intervention programmes including Alert, Check and Connect, Friends for Life, Why Try, Berry Street Education Model, Nurture Training, Vocabulary Enrichment Programme Catch Up Literacy, Zones of Regulation, Getting it Together and Mindfulness Training for Teachers.
