This webinar is a collaboration between ESCI, TES, NAPD and the PDST and is designed to support Post Primary School Leaders.

The panelists will explore examples and effective strategies from their own professional practice in various themes such as leading in challenging times, managing the unknown, resilience in school leadership and offering support to the school community.
Dr. Joe O Connell
Former Principal and Education Centre Director, Joe has worked extensively in supporting roles for CSL, NAPD, ACCS, the JMB and ETBI. He has addressed issues such as leading teaching and learning, managing and building relationships across the school community, dealing with challenging situations and many more.
Joe will discuss leading in a time of crisis emphasising working in the here and now as opposed to an idealistic state, leaders engaging in self compassion and how best to negotiate your own zone of control.
Rachel O Connor
Rachel is the Principal of Ramsgrange Community School, Co. Wexford. Rachel is also a current Leadership Associate with the PDST (delivering on the Misneach and Comhar Programmes) and a Mentor for the Centre for School Leadership. Rachel is the current Vice President of the NAPD.
Rachel will share the lived-experience of being a Post Primary Principal during the current pandemic and will address the issue of staff morale.
Bernard McHale, PDST
School Principal and Team Leader with the PDST Leadership Team, Bernard has worked as an associate with LDS, research associate with the Teaching Council and is heavily involved with the Misneach and Forbairt Programmes.
Bernard will explore the supports that are currently available to school leaders as well as offering practical tips on leading teaching and learning during the pandemic.
Gerry Mc Gill
Gerry is the Principal of Tyndall College, Carlow Town. Gerry was previously Principal of Scoil Ruáin, Killenaule, Tipperary. Taught in Larkin Community College in North Inner-City Dublin for 12 years prior to becoming Principal. Gerry is a former intercountry footballer and league of Ireland soccer player. He has coached intercounty mens and ladies football teams.
Gerry will share his lived experiences as a current Post Primary Principal on how to remain connected to your staff during the pandemic.
Sharon Eustace
Sharon is a Regional Director in NEPS with a lead role in the implementation of the Wellbeing Policy (2018 - 2025). NEPS have developed a webinar and a resource pack to support school leaders during these challenging times. Sharon will share details of aspects of the webinar, including the evidence-based approach of Psychological First Aid.
There will be a Q&A session during the webinar. Questions based on the themes of remaining connected and school leader wellbeing will be asked of the panel.
