Webinar 1: Introduction to Behavioural Difficulties and Effective Classroom Management - Wednesday, 27th September 2023 @ 7pm
This webinar is multi-faceted in nature and aims to support teachers with effective classroom management as well as developing strategies to support pupils with specific behavioural difficulties. These difficulties include ADD, ADHD and ODD.
Webinar 2: Classroom Culture and Classroom Environment when Supporting Pupil Behaviour- Wednesday, 4th October 2023 @ 7pm
Throughout this webinar, teachers will identify pro-active teaching strategies for improving classroom management and dealing with challenging behaviours in the classroom. Proactive strategies are an important way of avoiding discipline issues and preventing behaviour problems in the classroom. We will examine wellbeing in the classroom and how this can be promoted. The course will explore how behaviour is a form of communication and how you respond to this form of communication is key.
Webinar 3: Assessment, Referrals & Interventions when Supporting Pupil Behaviour - Wednesday, 11th October @ 7pm
This webinar will explore assessment, referrals and interventions when supporting children with behavioural difficulties.To begin, we will discuss the Continuum of Support. This support model assists in responding to children’s needs, from mild to more severe needs. Following this we will discuss referrals to outside agencies for children with behavioural difficulties. Specific interventions to support children with behavioural difficulties will be examined. We will examine the function of challenging behaviour and assessments to support you in determining this.
Bio of Presenters: Aoife O'Sullivan & Aisling Barrett
Aoife and Aisling are teachers who completed the B.Ed in Education and Psychology in Mary I. They currently have 9 years teaching experience across a wide range of classes from Junior Infants to Sixth Class as well as in the Special Education setting. Both Aoife and Aisling completed a M.Ed in Special Educational Needs in Trinity College with a focus on reading difficulties. Aoife is an assistant principal and has had this position of management in her school for five years. Aisling is a member of the Oide Droichead Induction Associate Panel. Both teachers currently teach 5th class in their respective schools in Dublin and Cork.
