In this presentation Declan will cover the new topic of Rates of Chemical Reactions on the Junior Cycle Science syllabus (specification). Declan will cover the five factors that affect the rates of reactions and will demonstrate some relevant experiments in this area. He will also show how the new topics of Activation Energy and Energy Profile Diagrams on the syllabus may be used to assist our students in understanding the results of experiments to study rates of reactions. In addition, he will provide suggested solutions to the questions on Rates of Reactions on the SEC sample examination paper and on the documentation that accompanied the syllabus and discuss the role of interpreting graphical data on the SEC sample exam paper.

He will also provide those attending with a copy of the Junior Cycle Science Assessment Task booklet with each section containing prompt questions to help students perform to the best of their ability when completing the booklet.

Certificates of attendance will be presented to all teachers who attend.
